Improving Science Literacy The following programs are currently offered through the University of Arizona: - Arizona MESA (Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement)
A college-prep program that allows ethnic minority, low-income, and first-generation college-bound students to participate in hands-on activities related to math, engineering, and science, as well as workshops that build strong academic skills and inform students about college and career opportunities. - Arizona Project WET
This program offers engaging, interactive classroom activities about water to students throughout Arizona. It also offers facilitator training for classroom teachers and educators. - Arizona Rivers
Promotes education, monitoring, research, and conservation related to Arizona’s rivers and riparian habitats. The program seeks teachers, students, citizen scientists, and student organizations who are interested in partnering with volunteer river monitors and local watershed experts to collect water quality data, investigate riparian ecology and habitats, and monitor stream restoration efforts. - Earth Camp
A partnership between the UA College of Science and the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum, Earth Camps are hands-on, minds-on field camps that focus on sustainability issues and promote youth leadership skills for middle and high school students. - Flandrau Science Center
This hands-on science center located at the UA includes a planetarium, public observatory, mineral museum, interactive science exhibits, and a science store. - Insect Discovery
An outreach program for 2nd and 3rd graders that allows students to work with insects to learn about diversity, adaptation, and insect behavior and characteristics. - Marine Discovery
