B2 Institute Artist-in-Residence Program Description:
The B2 Institute Artist-in-Residence program aims to encourage and promote a dialogue between artists and scientists, and to foster the exchange of ideas resulting from the complementary ways in which artists and scientists attempt to understand, interpret, and explore the world around us.
Artists-in-Residence are expected to interact with the Biopshere 2 scientists and visitors in informal settings. They are strongly encouraged to develop a vibrant dialog leading to the better mutual understanding of art and science. They will also be expected to present a public lecture, demonstration, or performance, and when appropriate, to donate an original work of art made during their residency to the B2 Institute Art Collection and Archive. All artwork should be prepared for exhibition: 2-D art should be framed and ready to hang; 3-D art should be gallery ready. Publication information of donated artwork should include the language “This artwork was produced while a participant in the Artist-In-Residence Program at the B2 Institute”.
