The University of Arizona Biosphere 2 is excited to announce the second annual Earth Day 2010: Now Generation Festival. For 40 years our country has celebrated Earth Day in appreciation of nature and its importance to our collective well-being. As a new decade begins, we believe it is time for Earth Day to reflect the ideals of the younger generation—the ones who will inherit and care for the Earth. It is our goal to mobilize and enlighten thousands of people about what is at stake and how they can be part of the solution as we move forward in addressing the health of our planet.

This event will be launched at one of Time Life Books "50 Must-See Wonders of the World" - Biosphere 2! We will bring together artists, scientists, students and visitors to look out through Biosphere 2 to see the environment in new ways. Activities to be offered include:

  • Science/Art Activities

  • Live Music

  • New Exhibits

  • Thematic Tours

  • Green Jobs Panel Discussion

  • Sky gazing from the Mount Lemmon SkyCenter telescopes

Biosphere 2 offers a fantastic venue; its architecture and research programs have been featured in newspapers such as the New York Times, USA Today, and the Los Angeles Times, and on television networks including CBS, NBC, BBC, Discovery Channel, and the National Geographic Channel. It is a scientific center for research, education outreach, teaching, and lifelong learning about the Earth, its living systems, and the impacts of global climate change.
