Adrián Fernández Bremauntz

President, National Institute of Ecology, Mexico

Adrián Fernández Bremauntz is a Biologist with an MSc in Environmental Technology from the Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine in London, UK, and a Ph.D. in Environmental Science from the same institution. He also carried out post-doctorate research activities at the Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Fernández has experience as consultant for both the private and public sector, including the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP). He has published several articles in journals such as Atmospheric Environment and the Journal of Exposure Analysis and Environmental Epidemiology and for the last six years has been guest lecturer at Harvard University in several courses. Since 1995, Dr. Fernández has occupied important positions in the Environment Secretariat, first as General Director for Environmental Management and Information and later on as General Director for Research on Urban, Regional and Global Pollution at the National Institute of Ecology. In March 2005 he was appointed President to the National Institute of Ecology, the research entity within the Environment Secretariat in Mexico.
